Glow Granola
Chia and flaxseed go in with extra nuts, so the clusters come out denser and the bowl keeps you going longer. The least like breakfast cereal of the four, in a good way.
200g 1,650 PKR, 500g 3,650 PKR, 1kg 6,700 PKR
What is in it
Rolled oats, Extra mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews), Chia seeds, Flaxseeds, Pumpkin seeds, Sunflower seeds, Cranberries, Natural honey.
Allergens: Contains nuts. Made in a kitchen that also handles wheat, dairy and eggs.
The Classic base with chia and flaxseed worked in, and extra nuts to carry them. It is the one people move to when breakfast has to do more than taste good.
What the seeds actually do
Chia and flax are mostly fibre and fat rather than starch, so a bowl of Glow sits heavier and stays with you longer than the same weight of Classic. That is the point of it. It is not a health claim, it is what happens when you swap some of the light things for some of the dense ones.
The flax goes in ground as well as whole, because whole flaxseed largely passes straight through and you get very little out of it.
What it tastes like
Nuttier and less sweet than the Classic, with a faint bitterness from the flax that most people stop noticing quickly. The cranberries are still in there, and they end up being the only thing in the bowl you actually taste as sweet. The texture is the real difference though. It is denser in the spoon and it chews rather than shatters.
How to eat it
This is the one that is better with yoghurt than with milk. The seeds swell slightly against something thick and the bowl holds together. If you do use milk, eat it faster than you would the Classic, because chia takes up liquid and keeps going.
Who it is for
People who train, people who skip lunch, and people who found the Classic disappeared too quickly. If you eat breakfast at seven and are hungry again at ten, this is the pouch to try.
Worth saying plainly: this is a granola, not a supplement. It is a good breakfast, and a good breakfast is all it is meant to be.
Which size to order
Glow is the dearest of the four, because chia, flax and the extra nuts cost more than oats do. The 200g is there for a trial, but if everything above sounds like your morning, the 500g is the better buy.
Questions people ask
- Is it less sweet than the Classic?
- Yes, noticeably. The same honey goes in, but there are more nuts and seeds sitting against it.
- Is the flaxseed ground or whole?
- Both. Whole flax largely passes through undigested, so some of it goes in ground so that it is actually doing something.
- Why does it feel heavier than the Classic?
- Chia and flax are dense, and there are more nuts in it. The same size bowl carries more.
- How long does it keep?
- Six weeks sealed. The seeds carry more oil than the Classic does, so keep the pouch out of direct sun and it will be fine.
